#8 EDUCATION

I. In the first video, a distinguished scholar Sugata Mitra shares the idea of creating a School in the Cloud. He honestly thinks that this kind of school will help to support children all around the world and will help them to explore and learn from one another by brainstorming common ideas. Besides, he believes that modern educational system is absolutely obsolete. It limits children's imagination and creativity by tedious tasks and different sort of punishment.

II. In the second video, speaker's rough idea is the problem of dropping out of school by kids. There should be a reason why so many pupils withdraw from the school, even those who have a thirst for knowledge. The reason is, they just don't enjoy it, they don't get a real benefit from it. Today, teachers kill children's curiosity, they forbid them to demonstrate an ability to their natural talents. Besides, modern education focuses on different tests and continuous assessments but not on teaching and learning. That's the problem.

III. What about me, I am firmly convinced that today's education doesn't meet the requirements of the modern world. Most of young people enter the universities just to obtain a diploma but not a knowledge. But the question is:"Can modern education help us to acquire knowledge?" Today, teachers take turns at loading student's brain with unnecessary information. To improve modern system of education there should be created a freedom of choice. Cramming of facts and dates, hi-fi mathematical formulas, theories and doctrines should be at college levels when one has a proven ability for art or music. What will the history pay a doctor or a mathematician, or medical terms to a historian? Unfortunately, due to limit of words in this blog this question remains open.

"I never let my schooling interfere with my education."
                                                                                                                         -- Mark Twain

#6 FEELINGS, EMOTIONS, BODY LANGUAGE

Emotions, gestures and body language play extremely important role in our social life. We can meet different people on our life path. To my mind, it is a sheer bliss to be surrounded by people who make you feel on top of the world and with whom you always make your days, but, we all know, one swallow doesn't make a summer, because are those, who can increase your stress levels. Some people are reserved and they always bottle up their emotions, well, it's really difficult for me to have a word with such guys. What about me, so I'm that kind of people who can easily pour my soul and feelings out, and just after this have a real sigh of relief.

Now, let's get to the point. My main task was to observe my friends and body language they use. So, let's get started!

This is Anna. She is quite shy but lovely girl, and sometimes she's a hesitant. On this photo her fingers are placed in her mouth. As for me, always when she does this gesture she's under pressure. It's understandable, because she tend to be frustrated and uneasy.

Here is lovely side of Anna. I called this face gesture "duck lips". She always does it when she wants to make a photo and post it in Instagram. Many girls do the same. They just don't want to suppress their feelings and emotions and they want to convey their enthusiasm to other people.

This is Oksana. Oksana is a confident girl and sometimes she just kills me with her stubbornness. She is stroking her chin on this pic. Oksana does it when she's thinking or making a decision. Also, I noticed, that she behaves in such way, while listening some presentation or even lecture.

It's a boredom gesture. Maybe, she's already sick and tired of her daily routine and fed-up with studying. Poor, little girl!

Frankly speaking, it is difficult to put into words the emotions and feelings that I experience while watching this video. At first glance nothing special, a boy just riding a longboard. There is something catchy here. When I watch it, I have a, sort of, sigh of relief. It calms me down and helps to keep cool head.

I totally agree with this statement, and that's why I decided to share it. As for me, this quote would be a good credo for those who learn foreign languages as their majors. When making any judgments about this language, we should take into account all the aspects about it. Students, scientists, philosophers, psychologists, and other professionals can benefit from a study of the Latin language, since most words were culled from Latin meanings. Learning Latin can also help improve a person's English composition, particularly prose, meanings of new words are easily known because the individual studying Latin gets to know the Latin origins of the words.  Science students or those planning to embark on careers in the medical profession will also find some knowledge of Latin quite helpful. When you learn this language, it doesn't mean that you will be fluent in it and would be able to read manuscripts. Foremost, you will be able to understand the structure of sentences and describe similarities and differences when comparing languages.Besides, if you are befriend with Latin language you have some prospects to be a good biologist or at last to work in this sphere.Just look outside the bubble, if you know Latin or another proto language, as for me, it gives you confidence and sometimes a chance to outsmart someone if it's necassary, of course. To sum up, I want to say that no matter what other people say or laugh at, if you want to be a well educated person, you have to do your best in finding benefits in learning and exploring something new and at that time old, as Latin is. Only fools laugh at the latin language.

#3 VOCABULARY SCI-fI

   Dear Paul,
Are you alive? I haven't seen you for ages. How's your life? What's new? You know, I was assigned to accomplish a very important task. I want you to do revise and remember all those old-fashioned methods you used to use when learning English. Because, now I am enthusiastic to tell you and to make you to be aware of the learning opportunities that I have, with all these online tools and dictionaries. Just take it seriously, I'm not kidding you.
Frankly speaking, I kind of sympathize you, because in your student years it was quite difficult to look words up in a dictionary and to make the most of it. Nowadays, we are able to explore different ways in learning new vocabulary. We are so lucky to have an excess to all this tools and resources with remarkable ease, that are specially provided to work out the easiest ways for learning language. I'd like to share some that I usually use.
First is more like vocabulary tool, called Synonym Finder. This site will help you to avoid using the same word too repetitively, redundantly, recurrently and so on. Besides, it provides definitions, examples and correct pronunciation.

Another viable option is Rewordify , that improves reading and learning by simplifying difficult English. This source effectively teaches words and build better vocabulary

The last but not the least, my favorite one - TAGUL.This tool is connected with creativity. All you need is to pick and choose the words, make a choice with the colours and finally create your cloud. Preatty cool, huh.

What about online dictionaries, so I use The Free Dictionary  and Oxford. This resources use a wide range of vocabulary, appropriate examples, and they contain all the necessary grammatical and lexical information.

So as you understand, all that we need is only make an effort and give all these tools a try.
Drop my a line, when you receive my letter.

With love, Ira.

You must also identify what kind of dictionaty you have or what is the best dictionary for you. First and foremost, if you are ESL learner, so descriptive dictionary would be the best for you. Such kind of dictionaries provides defenition and description of the word.
